Direct Support Professional
The Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing supportive services to individuals who are intellectually disabled that participate in the Group Day, Community Engagement, Community Coaching, Workplace Assistance Services or any type of Residential Support program. The type of supports and assistance will include, but are not limited to the following areas:
Residential Programs: DSP shall support and provide skill-building interventions with social activities daily living, meal preparation, housekeeping, money management, community engagement/awareness, and health/safety practices.
Group Day: DSP shall support and provide skill-building intervention with social activities, communication activities, problem solving activities, arts/craft activities, money management, community engagement/awareness, and health/safety practices.
Community Engagement: DSP shall support and provide skill-building interventions with up to a 3 individual to 1 staff with social activities, communication activities, problem solving activities, arts/craft activities, employment seeking activities, and community engagement/awareness. This service allows the individual to engage in activities in the community with the general population.
Community Coaching: DSP shall support and provide skill-building interventions on a 1 individual to 1 staff basis with social activities, communication activities, problem solving activities and community engagement/awareness, and health/safety practices. This service is designed to assist individuals who have barriers or difficulties adjusting to activities in the community and with others and need more 1:1 staff intervention.
Workplace Assistance Services: DSP shall support on a 1:1 basis that will allow the individual to maintain stabilization in their employment. This service is supplementary to job coach services the individual may be receiving.
Documentation Requirements
Complete all required documentation such as support notes, data collection notes, MAR data, behavior observation data collection and other information deemed necessary to the Direct Support Professional. Attend and participate in staff meetings designed to coordinate and develop Individual Support Plans.
