Job Description
Position: Theatre Director
School Year: 2025-26
Job Summary
The Jersey Community High School Theatre Director is responsible for directing and coordinating the planning and
organizing of the JCHS Theatre program throughout the school year. The Director works with students to give them an
opportunity to experience and develop their interests and skills in the various aspects of dramatic production, and
develop an understanding and appreciation for dramatic arts. The Theatre Director is responsible for the overall
practical and creative interpretation of a dramatic script, taking into account budgetary and physical aspects of a
production, and is involved in all stages of the process, from design and pre-production to rehearsal and final
performances. The Director works under the supervision of the activities director and building principal.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Direct and coordinate at least two major productions.
- Provide student instruction and workshops in theatre.
- Plan, promote, host, and oversee theatre events throughout the school year.
- Collaborate with the JCHS Band Director, JCHS Vocal Music Director, and those responsible for sound and

- Model respect and maintain appropriate conduct towards participants and spectators.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, administrators, and teachers.
- Encourage students to participate in the program.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect the safety and well-being of students.
- Ensure the staff and students are in compliance with the Jersey CUSD #100 Board Policies and JCHS
- Study, evaluate, and implement innovations in the program.
- Represent Jersey CUSD # 100 in a professional manner.
- Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the program and ensure these items are clean, in good

Must possess an Illinois Professional Educator License and be a current employee of Jersey CUSD No. 100.
