Job Summary :
The Senior Accountant position is a critical leadership position within the Jervois US Finance team and will have senior responsibility for monthly accounting close, metal inventory (in operations), accounts payable, payroll and management reports. Additionally, this position manages quarterly site forecasts and annual budgets, variance analysis, ERP administration in SAP and special projects as they are identified. With demonstrated success in the Senior Accountant position, the incumbent would be a potential successor for the Jervois US Finance Manager or roles with Jervois corporation in the finance, control or treasury functions.
Major Responsibilities :
The Senior Accountant will have the responsibility of recording all journal entries required as follows :
Track and post changes to metal WIP and finished good inventory
Calculate monthly metal settlements, site revenue and cost of sales
Track, manage and record all entries to accounts receivable and reconcile to site bank accounts
Record entries for payroll, prepaids, fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, bond interest, and intercompany and consolidation accounts
Manage accounts payable, the aging of vendor accounts and subledger
Review all balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy and reconcile all general ledger accounts to support documentation.
Prepare and manage month-end management reports, including monthly comparisons to forecast and variance analysis explanations.
Prepare and manage quarterly forecast for site projected revenue, operating cost, cost of sales, cashflow and provide variance explanations as required. Includes coordinating with all operational departments, compiling all data into a comprehensive worksheet, and submitting to site management for review.
Administer the FICO modules for the US in the Jervois SAP system
Be familiar with accounting controls related to financial reporting, cash management, inventories, and fixed assets.
Assist with ad-hoc projects and general office support tasks when necessary or assigned by the Finance Manager.
Job Specific and / or Technical Skills :
Previous Work Experience Required : Accounting experience of three years or more as a senior accountant, preferably in mining, construction, or a heavy manufacturing environment.
Education, Special Skills, and Knowledge Required : Bachelors degree in accounting or related field. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Ability to research state sales and use tax and property tax regulations and apply same to Jervois operations. Proficiency in SAP preferred, expertise with other ERP systems (Ellipse, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Hyperion, etc.) will be considered acceptable.
Must have a good working knowledge of MS Teams, Excel, Word and Power Point applications. Candidates should have proficient communication and presentation skills.
Candidates should be self-motivated and capable of working independently in both in-person and remote environments.
General Job Requirements :
This is a full-time role that may be completed in-person at the Jervois offices in Salmon, Idaho or on a partial or fully remote basis within a US based location in the Mountain or Pacific Time Zone with some preference given to Idaho or Arizona locations. The roster for the position is a standard five-day work week, with a high degree of flexible working arrangements. The Senior Accountant will be expected to work virtually with managers, executives and peers operating in remote and hybrid positions.
The employee must be able to follow specific instructions while maintaining acceptable established standards of work performance and conduct, show the necessary and consistent energy, as well as acceptable mental and physical dexterity, for the satisfactory completion of the essential duties as summarized and defined. The employee must exhibit acceptable interpersonal skills and the continuous ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere.
