This is a great opportunity for a NSF Certified Technician to work at NASA-JSC in Houston, Texas!
JES Tech is searching for a NSF certified Biosafety Cabinet (BSC) technician to provide technical expertise to Laboratory Support Services (LSS) supporting Biomedical and Environmental Research at NASA-JSC. The position will work closely with the LSS lead and laboratory stakeholders to ensure the maintenance and proper certification of all biological safety cabinets is met in accordance with established quality management system standards. Other responsibilities include performing general maintenance on laboratory equipment, management of house gas supply, maintaining inventory and distribution of gases, liquid nitrogen, and dry ice, and responding to off-nominal alerts after hours as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) Certification.
- Complete and document certification of all biological safety cabinets, clean benches, and fume hoods as needed.
- Conduct general repair on laboratory equipment as needed or coordinate with vendor for specialized repairs.
- Handle management and maintenance of house gas tank farm.
- Maintain inventory and coordinate procurement and distribution of gases, liquid nitrogen, and dry ice.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
Education/Experience
Required:
- HS Diploma and active NSF Certification
- At least 5 years’ experience working biological safety cabinets
Desired:
- Associates Degree in Life Sciences
Knowledge & Skills
Required:
- General knowledge of laboratory equipment and repair.
- Proven ability to perform technical work to high standards.
- Ability to capture, communicate, and implement the needs and requirements of customers for their projects.
- Ability to attain and maintain respect and confidence of the customer and contract personnel.
- Ability to work independently, be highly motivated, and able to work with multiple disciplines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (ability to communicate with project managers, project leads, customers, and with contract colleagues is essential).
- Must be open-minded to new ideas and new ways of doing business, willing to embrace new opportunities, and the flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.
- Must be reliable and have dependable work habits and the dedication to get the job done.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Standing/walking; climbing/stooping/kneeling; lifting/pulling/pushing: 25lbs or greater is required.
