Job Summary
The Radiologic Technologist will operate diagnostic imaging equipment independently, perform routine imaging studies, and assist physicians with a variety of procedures. The ideal candidate must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and imaging techniques while ensuring patient safety and comfort. This role also includes documenting findings, following safety standards, and conducting appropriate quality control procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
- Operate x-ray equipment safely to capture high-quality diagnostic images according to established protocols.
- Perform digital x-rays, upload images securely, and prepare written reports.
- Troubleshoot and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring daily calibrations and safety checks are completed.
- Maintain PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) for storage, retrieval, and documentation of radiographs.
- Assist physicians with procedures and communicate effectively with other healthcare providers.
- Prepare digital images and B-READ forms for review.
- Operate testing equipment for audiograms, visual acuity, ocular tension, pulmonary function tests, electrocardiograms, and obtain vital signs as needed.
- Adhere to radiation safety practices (ALARA principle) and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain yearly competencies, job-required certifications, and continuing education credits.
- Perform quality assurance (QA) duties and monthly compliance tasks.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Certification Requirements:
- Associate in Applied Science in Radiologic Technology required.
- Current ARRT Certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
- State of Washington Radiologic Technologist License required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required.
- Must obtain Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) within 90 days of hire.
- Must obtain required certifications to perform testing as an MA-R within 90 days of hire.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience performing radiographic imaging and exams accurately and efficiently.
- Knowledge of radiation safety standards, ALARA principles, and state regulations.
- Strong technical skills in positioning, selecting techniques, and operating x-ray and testing equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members.
- Understanding of PACS, electronic medical records (EMRs), and documentation procedures.
- Strong ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards.
Work Environment, Schedule & Compensation
- This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) located at DOE Hanford OMS.
- Work is performed in a clinical setting, following all health and safety protocols.
- Clinic hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM, and the work schedule will be within these hours.
- Compensation is $37 - $39 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- Requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Frequent use of radiology and testing equipment, computers, and medical instruments.
- Requires visual acuity, manual dexterity, and ability to perform detailed imaging procedures.
Must be U.S. Citizenship or National and have ability to successfully obtain necessary security clearance.
