What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Intern - City Council Campaign position at Jess for New York?
Jess Coleman’s City Council Campaign is looking for unpaid interns to assist with fieldwork, including voter outreach and visibility campaigns throughout Lower Manhattan.
This internship will include 10-20 hours of weekly outreach work, learning the ins and outs of political campaigns at the most direct level: the City Council. Interns will learn about the issues that matter most to our district and gain an understanding of the importance of fieldwork to a local campaign.
Interns will be given the opportunity to initiate their own field projects, including outreach within their academic communities, their local communities, or broader efforts throughout the district.
Interns will receive professional development and networking opportunities through campaign events and guidance from experienced campaign workers. We will provide you with all the tools you need to succeed, with a focus on laying the foundation for a career in political campaign work. We aim to provide interns with a supportive and fun work environment with as much hands-on experience as possible.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.

- High school students, undergraduate students, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- No previous campaign experience required.

- Self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable talking to diverse groups of voters.
- Volunteer experience, political or otherwise, is a plus!
- Mandarin, Cantonese, or Spanish skills are a plus!
Compensation:
Our internship program is unpaid. However, we will support students in receiving academic credit where applicable, providing all necessary materials to your institution. Similarly, if an intern receives funding from an external organization, we will provide all required materials.
