Position Summary:
The Alternative Education Coordinator will develop systematic coordination of all facets of alternative education for Jessamine County Schools in an effort to best meet individual student needs. The coordinator will provide professional guidance and support to alternative education leaders, act as a liaison between the schools/programs and the district and ensure compliance with alternative education laws and regulations. In addition, the coordinator will work with the A1 secondary schools and outside agencies to coordinate resources, support and services.
Qualifications:
- Education: Supervisor of Instruction or School Principal Certification required
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of school leadership experience, alternative education preferred.
- Possess a strong understanding of alternative education programming.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements a comprehensive model for the delivery of alternative education services that includes measurable outcomes of success for at-risk students and develops annual program plans, goals and objectives, and methods of measuring program success.
- Develops, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates criteria, procedures, and guidelines, for entry and exit to and from alternative education programs.
- Provides administrative and educational leadership in directing, developing, improving and maintaining services for alternative education programs.
- Monitors program activities; prepare and present a variety of reports, records and data regarding student achievement, success rate, attendance, etc. Assists with data collection and data-based decision-making processes.
- Confers and assists school leadership in resolving a variety of challenges as needed.
- Assists in planning, developing and implementing a program evaluation system.
- Supports schools in developing and implementing staff development as needed.
- Manages the program budget for the JCS Lift program and monitors the budget of all alternative education programs.
- Establishes and maintains clear communication and cooperative working relationships with partner agencies, other school districts, and regional and state organizations.
- Maintains professional competencies in areas of responsibility; maintain contact with and participate in professional job-related organizations; serve as a liaison to professional groups.
- Evaluates alternative education staff as needed.
- Identifies areas of improvement with alternative education within the district and works to improve these areas.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
