Summary
As the preschool teacher, you will be responsible for the preschool classroom (3-5 year olds) and will be the next in charge in the absence of the director. The lead teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.
Duties
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Sanitize toys and play equipment.
- Observe, interact, and monitor children's play activities.
- Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered.
- Read to children
- Play with children
- Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas..
- Dress children and change diapers.( If necessary)
- Maintain a safe play environment.
- Communicate with children's parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues..
- Implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
- Must be able to handle leadership responsibilities in the absence of the director.
