SUMMARY
Jessie Trice Community Health System is seeking dedicated and committed individuals that will provide expanded duty dental functions, prepares patient for triaging through vital signs/ dental history. Performs preplanning for patient visits as required. Prepares for and assists Dental Provider with procedures as directed. Be proficient in taking diagnostic x-rays, applying sealants, and providing fluoride treatments, prophylaxis, oral hygiene instructions and use of dental materials. Will assist Provider with patient health education.
Dental Assistant will also be proficient in infection control procedures according to organization guidelines. Other parameters requiring expertise include sterilization, disinfection, instrument and equipment maintenance and dental treatment room disinfection.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES (including expanded duties):
Dental Assisting Certificate, Expanded Duty Dental Assistant Certificate from accredited school
Prepares and maintains dental instruments, equipment and supplies.
Records patient health history, vital signs, medication, medical alerts with updates as required, in electronic dental record.
Records dental charting and information in electronic dental record as directed.
Prepares patients for dental care.
Prepares dental materials and instruments for all required procedures.
Provides chairside assistance to the Dental Provider, instrument and materials exchange for efficient patient care.
Knowing and using dental materials appropriately.
Preventing and assist in managing dental medical emergencies.
Managing and controlling inventory according to department standards.
Place and remove rubber dams, matrices and wedges.
Taking accurate preliminary impressions as directed.
Applies sealants, prophylaxis and fluoride as required.
Promotes and provide oral health education to all patients/guests and community residents.
Ability to take diagnostic Dental X-rays.
Participates in at least 2 (two) community outreach/health fairs annually.
Special Requirement:
Bilingual ( English / Spanish or English / Creole) required
CPR Certification
PS. Dental graduates from non-US/ countries must have a Dental Assistant Certificate from an accredited learning Institution and a minimum of 1 year experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
