Elementary Principal
DEPARTMENT: Administrative JOB STATUS: Full Time
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: N/A REPORTS TO: Superintendent
GRADE/LEVEL: K-12
AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED: See Essential Duties
WORK SCHEDULE: Per contracted days
POSITION SUMMARY
The Principals under the direction of the Superintendent shall be administratively responsible for the educational program and all other activities of the individual schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To manage faculty, staff and finances effectively
- To act as the instructional leader
- To recommend assignments and supervise and evaluate teaching staff
- To communicate and demonstrate interpersonal skills with faculty, staff, students and community
- To provide Professional Development education based on needs assessments
- To supervise the operation and maintenance of the buildings and grounds in cooperation with the Director of Maintenance
- To supervise all student accounting for the assigned attendance areas
- To be responsible for the pupil welfare, discipline, proper relationships involving administration, teachers and pupils
- To execute the policies of the Jessieville School District and carry out the directions of the Superintendent
- To supervise all extracurricular activities of the school and coordinate activities with schools of the Jessieville School District
- To be a member of the ALE Committee
- To perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by employee’s supervisor, the principal, or the superintendent
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Competency Statements
Knowledge of the schools and JSD policies and procedures
Evidence of strong commitment to quality education
Evidence of strong organizational skills
Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills
Education
Minimum of Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership with an accredited educational institution. Other requirements per job description.
Experience
Three (3) years of teaching/administrative experience with proven leadership skills and attributes, understanding of curriculum, and knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory policies. Other requirements per job description.
Certificates & Licenses
Valid Arkansas teaching certificate or license in Educational Administration specific to campus-based grade levels for meeting the position’s essential duties and responsibilities.
Computer Skills
Ability to apply basic computer programs (spreadsheet, Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, others) to enhance job performance. (Others could include APSCN, HAC/TAC, NWEA)
Other Requirements:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all federal, state, and district requirements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic math operations to meet job expectations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations appropriately to meet job expectations.
