We opened Parlour Excelsior in the fall of 2024 and we are getting ready to open the next phase of this amazing location.
We have an opening for a BAR MANAGER at our newest location in Excelsior.
Job Title: Bar Manager
Job Summary: Bar Managers play a vital role in delivering exceptional food & beverage experiences to guests while also running an efficient, profitable bar. Bar Managers observe and enforce all company policies, house rules and guiding principles; are able to work and communicate well with others; receive and provide direction to staff; maintain a positive attitude toward the work and company. Bar Managers also maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance, observe company dress code, and support the company culture, values, goals and mission.
Reports to: General Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the restaurant's general operations. Ensure the general cleanliness of the restaurant daily and the proper upkeep and maintenance to make sure the restaurant operates at an optimal level.
- Help coordinate all training of FOH staff, with emphasis on Beverage menu specifics, and hold every employee of the restaurant accountable for their conduct in line with the policies of Jester Concepts. Address and report all misconduct of any employees and complete any necessary documentation relating to incidents with staff or guests. Build and support a culture within the staff that is respectful, professional, and positive
- Enhance the guest experience daily. Be present on the floor. Even if/when on the bar, be aware of how the restaurant is always operating and handle all situations that may arise with service. Garner guests’, management, and staff feedback. Establish relationships with the customer as much as possible through food running, pre-bussing, and table touches. Constantly check on drink and food ticket times to ensure the timeliness of our product to the table as well as ensuring that our service staff are executing the proper steps of service.
- Manage and cultivate the ongoing training program aimed to educate our existing staff on all areas of service including greeting the table, server demeanor, the menu spiel, timing of food & drink ordering, delivery for food and drink items, POS system, identifying guest cues, employee uniform adherence, table clearing, communication with fellow employees throughout service (ie: host, food runners, bar, wait assists and expo), watering and bread service, general table maintenance, delivery of the guest check, departure, table reset, and closing side-work.
- Assist in financial responsibilities. This may include but not limited to chargebacks or refunds, end of night checkouts and reports, maintaining all city requirements, licensing, and to maintain open lines of communication with leadership.
- Organize and document daily tip trackers and other nightly financials when executing duties of closing manager.
- Develop and maintain the schedule for Bar staff. Post weekly schedules on time.
- Make staffing decisions as appropriate for service day-of as well as for future services and private events.
- Assist the General Manager and AGM with administrational duties.
- Work with the leadership team to respond to reviews, feedback, and address concerns within the store.
- Responsible for capturing Bar content for social media posts and sharing those with the GM.
- Contribute to weekly store meetings including financial reports, invoice management and review, feedback, and public review responses and outcomes, upcoming events, staff and store issues, ongoing initiatives, and other general topics that come up.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Bar Specific Duties
- Ensure menu beverage offerings under your purview are available, specifically cocktails, beer, and spirits
- Stock spirits on the floor and in the storage room per specifications and maintain accurate data re: 86s, specials, counts, etc. (Toast POS, whiteboard)
- Hire and train all bar staff, ensuring they can meet the demands of the role and consistently represent Jester’s core values.
- Accurately record monthly inventory and COGs worksheet.
- Purchase within the budget weekly/monthly and catalog invoices weekly, track purchases compared to financial records.
- Help with beverage sales during service and highlight a cocktail for pre-shift training every week.
- Change menus as directed. Work with store management and the Executive Leadership team to execute these changes.
- Work with Event Sales team to fulfill specific beverage requests for BEOs.
- Meet with vendors as needed to taste selections.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or bar environment
- A strong background in hospitality, with a focus on customer service and team management.
- Experience with inventory management and ordering supplies.
- Proficiency in the use of Toast POS systems.
- Experience in bartending and knowledge of cocktails and spirits.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks at once.
