What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Jester Plaza Veterinary Clinic?
Minimum Job Requirements:
· A licensed LVT or at least 2 years of experience as a veterinary technician.
· Self-starter who is punctual with a focus on the details necessary to run a profitable clinic.
· * Work within a team framework and interact as the situation dictates.
· * Communicate and understand verbal and written directions.
· * Take direction well.
Essential Functions:
· Anesthesia – Includes preparation and administration of pre-anesthetic drugs and gases, placing IV catheters. intubation, patient monitoring, patient recovery and sanitation of anesthetic equipment.
· Client communication – Includes recording all client conversations, patient procedures, patient observations (in medical records), calling clients to update patient condition, communicating drop off and pick up times, creating and executing reminder phone calls.
· Dentistry – Includes performing prophylactic dental cleanings on canine and feline patients, tooth counting and charting, and assisting the Doctor with surgical extractions and other oral surgery.
· Diagnostics – Includes collection and processing of blood and urine, and performing diagnostic procedures, such as radiographs and cytologies.
· Housekeeping – Maintain a clean work area.
· Patient care and handling – Includes walking dogs, cleaning runs, feeding, watering, and medicating patients, providing litter boxes, notation of changes in medical or mental status, and bathing patients. Assisting Doctors and other Technicians in handling patients for procedures, exams, x-ray, sample collection, using safety equipment.
· Surgery – Includes reviewing detailed pre- and post-operative requirements, practicing all aspects of sterile technique, cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and administration of anesthesia.
· Other duties as assigned.
