The Retail Deli Team Member plays a crucial role in preparing, slicing, cooking, weighing, pricing, serving food, and merchandising deli products at Jet Food Stores. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of deli meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, breakfast items, fried foods, and vegetables for hot case items.
- Inform customers about our deli products and services, increasing sales through suggestive selling and great food presentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized deli area, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Operate equipment such as fryers, ovens, grills, serving utensils, knives, and potato cutters.
- Familiarize yourself with recipes, temperature readings, and general instructions concerning the deli area.
Requirements
- Read, understand, and write the English language at an eighth-grade level.
- Perform arithmetic calculations at an eighth-grade level to manage inventory and pricing.
- Have sufficient visual acuity to read labels, recipes, temperature readings, and avoid hazards.
- Lift up to 50 pounds, carrying cases of chicken, boxes of potatoes, and large bags of flour.
- Stand for 8-10 hours while cooking and serving customers.
- Work in a hot environment around hot equipment such as ovens, fryer, and grills.
