Position Title: Manager Government and Airport Affairs

Position Summary
The Manager Government and Airport Affairs will lead JetBlue’s State and Local Government Affairs engagement in the Northeast and New England, with a particular focus on New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut. The Manager will support work to build and enhance relationships with key leaders and political officials in those states, cities, and at JetBlue’s Focus City Airports, and will advocate, track and engage on potential changes in legislation, regulation or rules affecting JetBlue’s operations, reputation or costs to ensure they understand JetBlue’s corporate goals, plans and issues of concern.
Essential Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with key government partners in the Northeast to further JetBlue objectives
- In close coordination with colleagues from JetBlue’s Government and Airport Affairs and Infrastructure, Properties and Development teams, engage on policy matters with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and with the Massachusetts Port Authority, as well as their Boards or Commissions that oversee them
- Track and engage with decision makers in all state and local policy issues that affect JetBlue’s business
- Work collaboratively with relevant trade associations and NGOs as well as other industry officials (consistent with all applicable antitrust rules) on public policy objectives
- Represent JetBlue with government and airport leaders in public and private forums
- Advocate for and persuasively communicate JetBlue’s views on various issues to government and airport officials
- Track and engage on airport-related policy issues, including proposed changes in legislation, regulation or rules affecting JetBlue’s current or future operations
- Partner and coordinate with JetBlue’s Infrastructure, Properties and Development team to deliver consistent message to government and airport leaders, and coordinate and drive alignment with other JetBlue leaders on critical Airport Affairs issues
- Navigate and engage with federal, state, and local agencies (including TSA, CBP, etc.) that impact JetBlue’s airport operations in order to facilitate JetBlue’s operational and customer experience objectives
- Work with partners inside and outside JetBlue to support strategic projects at airports across our network
- Support JetBlue leadership team visits with government and airport officials in Focus Cities and State Capitals
- Oversee government affairs consultants working on behalf of JetBlue
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Five (5) years of work experience in an airline, airport or government environment
- Ability to multi-task, working in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Must be very articulate and able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)
- Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Two (2) years previous Airport Affairs and/or Government Affairs responsibility
- Leadership and advocacy skills and excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills
- Ability to operate flexibility to meet evolving organization priorities, and operate in diverse cultures and environments
- An ability to operate comfortably and advocate for JetBlue’s priorities through uncertainty and ambiguity
- A proven ability to work collaboratively and thoughtfully as part of a committed, integrated team
- Well-organized with exceptional attention to detail

Crewmember Expectations:
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
- Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Fun and Passion
- Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
- Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
- Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
- Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
