Position Summary

The AOG Controller reports to the Supervisor AOG and works within the Maintenance Operations Center (MOC) to provide material support for daily aircraft operations. They will coordinate logistics, purchasing of material, tooling and components to minimize the number of Aircraft on Ground (AOG) time. The AOG Controller is responsible for AOG and Routine requirements to prevent OOS aircraft including part sourcing, order entry, borrowing and timely shipping of parts.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance control in the handling of critically needed items, inclusive of the procurement of material, services and equipment as required
  • Support the recovery of out of service (OOS) aircraft, including OOS aircraft that may be parked
  • Source, procure and move parts to support maintenance in the resolution of defects
  • Execute transactions for purchase, sale, loans and borrow, in compliance with the General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and Sarbanes - Oxley requirements
  • Liaise with MOC Planning for the proactive positioning of parts for the clearance of defects
  • Perform dropship receiving as required
  • Research parts for interchangeability, higher/lower assemblies and aircraft effectivity, utilizing Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC), Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) and Standards Manual (SM) in resolution of AOG situations
  • Source and procure materials in an expedited manner, through vendors on our approved vendors list and 121 carriers in accordance with the GMM and Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s)
  • Create part numbers in TRAX utilizing MX-84 process, in AOG situations
  • Collaborate with all maintenance and material personnel to source and procure critical materiel or tooling through logistics and transportation management Recover parts after an Out of Service (OOS) event, with focus on not violating hazmat shipping policies
  • Support unscheduled engine changes in non-blue mx cities upon request (domestic or international)
  • Track requisitions and update Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) system accordingly
  • Liaise with business partners and collaborate with other departments to solve parts and logistical issues as they arise
  • Comply with all quarterly distance learning and have knowledge of the hazmat shipping policy
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Two (2) years’ experience working in an aircraft maintenance or materials environment
  • Valid Receiving Inspection Certification or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of start date
  • Currently in possession of a valid passport or equivalent travel documents to travel freely in and out of all JetBlue destinations
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways’ insurance standards
  • Working knowledge of inventory management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well with others and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship


Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or an aviation-related discipline
  • Two (2) years of commercial aviation experience in material operations
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate


Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Physical Effort:

  • Light physical effort is required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. (Light)


Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $60,000.00 and $82,850.00. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
