Position Summary

The Manager provides support to Flight Operations and System Operations and provides training to team members as needed. They report to the Director of Operations Strategy and Analysis.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for team’s compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies, coordinating discrepancies on behalf of JetBlue, when needed
- Owns AeroData System Manual (ASM) and Weight and Balance Manual (WBM)
- Participates in industry meetings on behalf of JetBlue and internal meetings on behalf of team
- Takes a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Manages company’s relationship with business partners for products that are the responsibility of Operations Engineering
- Owns:
- Design, development and implementation of systems for tracking aircraft weight and balance, monitoring aircraft performance, maintaining airport and aircraft data, and providing data to support flight planning and operations
- Development of special procedures for aircraft operations when required by unusual operational situations in cooperation with Flight Operations
- Route analysis including payload-range studies and airport suitability studies
- Investigation of and root cause determination of operational events and failure
- Identification of negative trends in aircraft performance; ensures corrective action is applied
- All other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Five (5) years of engineering experience in the aviation or aerospace industry, preferably in aircraft performance and/or operations engineering
- Five (5) years’ experience as Senior Engineer or in supervisory/managerial capacity
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong airline business acumen
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong capabilities with database querying (e.g., SQL) and/or high-level programming language(s)
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner
- Project management skills
- Excellent multitasking skills
- Available for overnight travel (10%)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Ten (10) years of engineering experience in the aviation or aerospace industry, preferably in aircraft performance and/or operations engineering
- Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s) governing aircraft certification, maintenance and FAR 121 operations
- Dispatch or Pilot’s License
- Experience in software and database development/maintenance
- Knowledge and/or experience with best practices throughout the airline industry
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls

- The base pay range for this position is between $112,000.00 and $155,000.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
