Description

The JCC Ranch Camp is not just the Denver JCC’s overnight summer camp, it’s also one of the best places to work during the summer. As a staff member, Ranch Camp will become your home away from home as you work to create a community where people can thrive. You’re a hero to your campers; you have the chance to do something you really care about and have a whole lot of fun doing it. Your experience as a staff member is just as important to us as our campers’ experience. That being said: We’re here to serve kids and make sure they are in the safest environment possible while having the time of their lives.

As a Camp Nurse at our residential summer camp, you play a vital role in supporting the health and wellness of our campers (ages 6 – 17) during their time with us at camp. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the health and safety of campers by managing medical supplies, providing first aid, ensuring proper documentation of incidents, administering medications, and supervising the employees and operation of the clinic. Additionally, the Camp Nurse will work with camp leadership to support the wellness of both staff and campers throughout the camp session.

Clinic Manager Responsibilities

  • Work in tandem with the Camp Clinic Manager to manage the 24/7 Health Clinic at residential summer camp for campers 6 – 17

  • When the Camp Clinic Manger is not present, act as the Camp Clinic Manager on duty

  • Supervise medication intake and return on camp arrival/departure days

  • Supervise health screens on all arriving campers

  • Supervise clinic assistant and additional clinic nurse

  • Provide care as needed to campers including but not limited to first aid, CPR, and medication.

  • In conjunction with the camper care team, communicate with parents and caregivers about camper health as needed

  • Ensure medication storage and medical facilities are compliant with Colorado Licensing and Health Department Regulations

  • Act as a resource to staff members in supporting their own physical and emotional wellness.

  • Drive UTV to events in outer property

  • Contribute to and participate in all activities at camp including but not limited to swimming,

  • Manage camper behaviors using positive behavior management techniques, enforcing appropriate safety policies, emergency procedures, and camp rules.

  • Participate in formal performance evaluations with Camp Director throughout the summer to receive positive feedback and shed light on opportunities for growth or improvement

All Supervisory Staff Responsibilities

  • Take care of staff and campers by prioritizing the physical, social, emotional health, safety, and well-being.

  • Work as a team with the supervisory team to make sure every day runs the way it’s supposed to by participating in all camp programming and supporting and maintaining camp life.

  • Create a community that you want to be a part of and that you want campers to be a part of.

  • Include everyone and make sure everyone is included.

  • Jump into the camp life: ride horses, swim, camp, play games, sing songs, roast s’mores, be ready to do everything the campers do!

  • Act as a resource and support staff as they manage the physical and emotional health and wellness of the campers.

  • Understand and be versed in positive behavior management techniques, enforcing appropriate safety policies, emergency procedures, camp rules, and more.

  • Be flexible and adaptable because things change quickly at camp. You have to be able to roll with it.

  • And other duties and responsibilities as assigned: you might need to make your campers’ dreams of a beach themed ice-cream campfire song session come true or become your favorite legendary Pokémon for an evening program.
