What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeping Lead - Weekday Evenings + Saturday or Sunday position at Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester INC?
The Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester is located alongside the Erie Canal in Brighton and is a 200,000 square foot facility that houses our state-of-the-art fitness, wellness and recreation programming, an aquatics center, a Professional Theatre, Children’s Center and our Camping Program.

We are looking for a full-time Lead Housekeeper to lead our evening crew and perform cleaning tasks alongside the team to ensure the facility is clean and sanitized for all our members, guests and staff. Responsible for safety and security for nightly building closure.
Full-time, Evening and Weekend Hours:
- Monday – Thursday 4:00 pm to 12:30 am
- Saturday or Sunday 10:00 pm – 6:30 pm schedule will include one of these days

Responsibilities:
- Direct, train and coach the Housekeeping Team to promote teamwork and to achieve scheduled tasks.
- Perform hands-on cleaning, coordinate coverage for staff absences and support special events. Includes: cleaning bathrooms, scrubbing shower stalls, emptying trash, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, washing floors, washing mirrors/windows, etc.)
- Lead new hire and in-service training to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment; (floor scrubber, floor buffer, air compressor, carpet shampooers, chemical dispensers, pressure sprayers, etc.)
- Maintain a daily cleaning log of all areas that need to be addressed
- Ensure building security during evening hours and upon building close – verify building is vacated, doors are secure, etc.
- Direct team to consistently follow safety housekeeping practices and procedures
- Support the implementation of routes and duty lists to oversee activities and output
- Work with Housekeeping Manager to delegate staff assignments and ensure coverage
- View work areas with an eye for safety. Follow procedures to report staff injuries
- Respond to concerns and requests from leadership, colleagues, members, and partners with a sense of urgency, prompt action and timely follow-up
- Ensure that proper supply control guidelines are followed, and the team is trained in the use of all chemicals.
- Maintain appropriate open and consistent communication to effectively direct assignments and address concerns for team.
- Collaborate with the Housekeeping Manager to ensure individual team members’ performance standards are met or addressed

Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in housekeeping, preferred
- 1 year lead experience, preferred
