The Louis S. Wolk Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester is located alongside the Erie Canal in Brighton and is a 200,000 square foot facility that houses our state-of-the-art fitness, Wellness and recreation programming, an Aquatics Center, a professional Theatre, Children’s Center and our Summer Camp Programs

We are looking for part time Manager on Duty to ensure the general safety and security of the building, members, staff and guests. Must be able to respond to emergencies and maintain CPR / AED certification.
Schedule:

Weekday evenings
- 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
- One or two shifts per weeknight

Sundays
- 8:00 am - 7:30 pm
Responsibilities
- Provide immediate response to any emergency and incidence (medical or otherwise) when on duty
- Assist with / lead response for any problems, issues, or concerns that may arise
- Document incidents of safety concerns to ensure follow-up by appropriate individuals
- Function as the “department supervisor” in the absence of any other higher-ranking director or manager
- Create and carry out process for opening areas within the facility and sweeping the building at close
- Complete ongoing walk-throughs and inspection of the facility and exterior grounds to ensure a safe and clean environment
- Supervise scheduled programming so staff and the facility are prepared for set-up and clean-up of each program or rental. Locate staff when support needed.
- Work with manager to ensure all staff are present and accounted for their scheduled shift
- Troubleshoot and solve issues: doors, locker issues, audio/visual equipment, unaccompanied children in adult areas, gym curtain placement, etc.
- Handle escalated member service issues with composure
- Strong knowledge of membership, programs and operations policies and procedures to be prepared to address a variety of questions and situations
- Complete Manager on Duty Report at the end of the shift to facilitate communication and proactively address concerns
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays to support staff and JCC members

- Aptitude to grasp basic knowledge of building systems and be prepared to follow emergency procedures if a building system fails
- Demonstrated ability to cooperate and work with staff to provide a quality environment and experience for all who use our facility and services
- Solid communication skills to build rapport with members, guests, staff and volunteers
- Ability to supervise, manage and respond quickly to any emergency situations in a calm, professional and confidential manner and if necessary, perform CPR, AED and First Aid
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent experience
- Related experience in safety and security in a member-services driven environment
Certifications:
- Current CPR/ AED and 02 administration certifications.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a basic knowledge of:
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point
- Proficiency database system Daxko (will train)
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:
- Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, grasping and twisting, climb or balance.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Use of computer keyboard
- Occasionally required to assist in with injuries and/or medical emergencies
