The JCCSF Summer Camp is now hiring an Excursion Specialist for 2025!
Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one-week to three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-8. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science and more.
Excursion Camps are in session 6 / 23 - 7 / 11 / 2025 and 8 / 4 - 8 / 8 / 2025. Attendance at staff training 6 / 2 - 6 / 6 / 2025 is required.
The Excursion Specialist will be the lead staff member for multiple 1 to 2-week sessions of outbound camps. Excursion camps are offered for campers in grades 3-5. Campers will have the opportunity to explore fun and exciting destinations around the Bay Area, such as Great America and Six Flags amusement parks.
This position requires strong classroom / fieldtrip management skills for youth ages 9-11.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure camper safety while on field trips
- Communication with transportation services as well as timely communication with camp leadership
- Supervise general counselors (when applicable)
- Support camper drop-off and pick-up processes
- Provide excellent customer service to camp families by communicating with them about their campers' experiences
- Set-up camp room and clean up daily
- Implement daily safety check of art making tools.
- Practice personal leadership skills.
- Model appropriate behavior for campers.
- Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
REQUIREMENTS
WORKING CONDITIONS
Will be primarily working with youth ages 9-13, excursion camps will have a home base at the JCCSF with a designated camp room. The Excursion Specialist travels with the campers via designated modes of transportation to the various excursion locations. The Excursion Specialist is expected to actively participate with and supervise the campers at all times.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Walking / standing throughout the workday. Ability to lift and transport equipment as needed.
