Primary Purpose of Job
To teach proper dive technique and age and skill appropriate dives, while ensuring all participants are engaged and supervised using safe and fun coaching methods.
Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00-10:00 am; dive meets are Wednesday afternoons from 1:30-5:00pm, either hosted at the JCC or other pools in the Omaha area. Attends weekly coaches meeting prior to each meet and additional coaches meetings as necessary. Season runs May 27 through July 11.

About our Swim Team
The Omaha JCC participates in the Greater Omaha Swim League (GOSL), a member-only competitive summer league serving the Omaha community since 2000.
Qualifications
· · Must be 18 years or older
· Current certifications in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer (preferred) or can obtain certification (we can train)
· Prior swim team/diving experience and coaching experience
· Technically competent in all competitive dives, techniques, and improvement drills
· Able to demonstrate dives, drills, etc according to USA Diving rules and regulations
· Able to relate to, communicate, and work with swimmers and parents
· Able to work independently and as part of a team
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Attends all dive competitions, banquets, and coach meetings.
2. Plans and conducts dive practices tailored to the ability of the divers:
a. Uses hands-on teaching to refine technique.
b. Provides equal amount of advice and expertise to each swimmer.
c. Instruct swimmers on USA Diving rules and regulations.
d. Make it a point to work and improve on at least one major difficulty for each diver.
3. Conducts the following before and during meets:
a. Takes daily attendance and manages meet sign-ups.
b. Verifies weekly meet line-up suggestions and submits to the Head Coach in a timely manner.
c. Leads divers in team cheers and encourages divers to cheer for teammates.
d. Attends all meets on time.
e. Informs all participants of dive meet assignments.
f. Takes attendance during warm-up to ensure everyone has shown.
g. Organizes divers and gets them ready for their events.
h. Reminds divers of USA Diving rules and regulations to be enforced.
i. Reviews rules before each race with swimmers.
4. Develops sportsmanship amongst divers:
a. Implements swim and dive team rules.
b. Teaches team cheers.
c. Builds camaraderie between teammates and staff.
b. Serves as a role model.
a. Maintains a professional and positive attitude toward swimmers, divers, coaches, parents and opposing teams.
5. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
a. Takes swimmers to and from camp
b. Labels ribbons and suggests swimmers/divers for awards.
c. Assembles lane ropes and cleans up equipment.
d. Prepares for Banquet celebration.
e. Informs Head Coach of any concerns with swim and dive team.

WORKING CONDITIONS
·· Requires normal physical capabilities, including lifting or carrying light loads, reaching and standing, with emphasis on being in the pool for long periods of time. Requires being physically fit in order to participate in a wide variety of activities and to maintain all certifications. Requires stamina to work long periods in a physically active environment. Requires dexterity with hands, speech, corrected hearing and vision within normal range.
· Works in a well-lighted indoor pool year round and outdoor pool during the summer months (May-July). The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high depending on the number of members using the facility.
· Outdoor weather conditions with little to no temperature control, is routinely exposed to the sun, may be exposed to extreme heat, cold, wind and rain; works on uneven and/or slippery surfaces and is periodically exposed to hazardous conditions/situations.
