Overview
Under the general supervisor of the Facilities Director, Maintenance Staff personnel are responsible for all physical plant maintenance at the Jewish Community Center and associated buildings. This includes all electrical, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, painting, carpentry repairs, general maintenance and construction. Coordinating all maintenance activities with the Facilities Director, maintenance staff is expected to accomplish all tasks and procedures with efficiency and economy. Employee is needed to work weekend morning shifts and some hours Monday through Friday. Scheduling Monday through Friday is negotiable
Job Skills / Requirements
• Help schedule all routine and emergency maintenance.
• Perform routine and scheduled checks of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other
building systems to insure safe operation and a safe building environment.
• With the assistance of the Facilities Director, implement and maintain a preventive
maintenance program on all equipment.
• Maintain, when possible, within budgetary constraint, an adequate supply of repair parts
and other supplies for the efficient, effective operation of the department.
• With the Facilities Director, function as a liaison with outside contractors.
• Insure that all equipment is inspected as required by law and proper certificates are
received and posted of each item of equipment.
• Make recommendations to the Facilities Director on any equipment that may need
replaced, rebuilt or repaired.
• Maintain records on all the Center’s equipment and recording logs on all boiler systems.
• Insure all assigned work is carried out in an efficient, safe and economical manner.
• Be knowledgeable in all phases of equipment operation, maintenance and repair as well as
applicable local, state and federal building codes.
• Order any necessary maintenance supplies and parts with permission of the Facilities
Director.
• Make recommendations as to whether outside contractors should be called in after
investigating maintenance / repair problems and determines work is beyond the capability
of the in-house maintenance staff.
• Must be involved in assuming on-call duties to respond to any normal or after hour’s
issues at the Center.
• Must be able to perform duties calling for a medium to heavy physical exertion, requiring
almost continuous walking, standing, lifting, and ladder climbing
• Inspects all areas routinely for safety hazards and unsafe conditions.
Education Requirements (Any)
High School Diploma/GED
