Overview
Education Coordinator : this role will provide academic assessment and instruction to the Department of Child Safety (DCS) aging-out youth, ages 16-20 years old, that dropped out of high school and / or have academic deficits and / or emotional and behavioral health challenges.
Youth referred to the program will be assessed for either enrollment with the onsite Online High School or GED Preparation classes, now referred to as the High School Equivalency Examination (HSE). Provides case management and collaborates with the program staff, schools, and others as necessary, to ensure educational goals are being met and needs are being addressed.
Pay-Rate : $19.00-$21.00 / hour
Responsibilities
- Assists with preparation for furthering education and skill development through vocational training, college, or other post-secondary opportunities.
- Youth who prefer to earn their High School Diploma online will complete academic assessments and enroll with the programs’ online school, Grad Solutions.
- Individualized educational tutoring will be provided and coordinated with volunteer tutors when necessary, to increase positive academic outcomes for all students.
- Provides case management and communicates directly and regularly with other team members, and outside agencies and services, regarding participant needs and progress in order to ensure coordinated services that best meet the participant’s needs.
- Participates in regular staff meetings, JFCS agency meetings as required, and community and client-related meetings as a representative of JFCS / JDP when appropriate.
- Participates in mandatory and ongoing program training to increase knowledge of best practices and remain compliant with funding and regulatory requirements
