Overview
West Valley Behavioral Health Center
Youth & Family Specialist : The Youth & Family Specialist (YFS) provides comprehensive support to children and their families through in-home and community-based interventions, while also providing education to address the client’s therapeutic goals.
The services provided in this role may include parent education, living skills training, behavior management training, the implementation of behavior-coaching plans, behavioral observations in various settings, consultations with school personnel, and social skills training.
Responsibilities
Provides home- or community-based therapeutic and supportive services for children with serious behavioral-health concerns and their families.
Assists children and families in obtaining community support, identifying resources, and resolving barriers to overall life success.
Serves as active participator in Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings and completes all related documentation in a timely manner.
Performs necessary tasks to help families understand the CFT process and remain involved in decision-making.
Supports the most appropriate and least restrictive levels of care for involved youth.
Works collaboratively with medical, treatment, and management staff to ensure best practices of care for children receiving services.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a human services field preferred; a combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.
Experience working with youth in a behavioral-health setting.
Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
Acceptable Driving Record
Ability to engage and work with diverse cultural groups.
Bilingual, Bicultural a plus.
