POSITION SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Institutional Giving Associate is responsible for collaborating with JFCS leadership, program, and finance colleagues on grant opportunities as assigned. The work will focus on researching potential opportunities, crafting compelling letters of intent, proposals, and reports, and supporting the management of foundation, corporate, and government grants and contracts. This position supports the comprehensive development efforts of JFCS, including annual, capital, and endowment campaigns as assigned by the Director of Institutional Giving or Director of Development.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS :

Salary Range : $85,000 – $95,000 (depending on experience)

Employment Type : full-time, exempt position with benefits

Employer 403(b) retirement match plus additional employer contribution (subject to eligibility)

16 holidays (10 federal and up to 6 Jewish holidays), annually

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Collaborate with JFCS leadership, program, and finance staff to develop interim and final reports for funders, highlighting the funder programs’ progress, outcomes, and impact

Partner with program and finance staff to collect project details and prepare grant proposals, letters of intent, and funding requests. Ensure that these materials are clear, concise, and aligned with the JFCS’s mission and funding priorities

Provide guidance to JFCS colleagues on grant planning, writing, program design, budget development, and evaluation of grants / proposals

Ensure adherence to budgetary and agency standards while managing resources effectively. Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Giving to set strategic direction for assigned projects

Conduct research to identify, qualify, and solicit new corporate, foundation, and government funding opportunities. Stay informed of evolving donor interests and industry trends, tailoring outreach accordingly and in support of JFCS programs and priorities

Assist the Director of Institutional Giving in tracking applications submissions and reporting deadlines

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Communications, English, Nonprofit Management, or Public Administration)

Minimum of 3-5 years in grant writing, institutional fundraising, with a record of successful funding proposals; knowledge of Bay Area institutional funders preferred

Demonstrated experience in researching, writing, and managing successful grant proposal for foundations, corporations, and government entities

Demonstrated intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, and previous experience working in database systems required
