Position Summary: Jewish Family Service (JFS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a wide range of social services to individuals and families in our community. The Career Services Team helps job seekers, including refugees and immigrants, overcome barriers to employment and achieve their professional goals through personalized career coaching and support.
As a Refugee Career Services Intern, you will play a key role in empowering job seekers from diverse backgrounds by supporting their job searches, preparing them for interviews, and assisting them with onboarding tasks. You will work closely with career coaches, helping with resume editing, job applications, interview preparation, and community outreach. While the core responsibilities remain consistent, every client is unique, and the day-to-day tasks will be dynamic. Adaptability and the ability to shift priorities as needed are skills that are highly valued in this role. We are flexible and will work with your school schedule to ensure a mutually positive experience.

Responsibilities:
- Resume and Cover Letter Assistance: Review and edit resumes and cover letters for clients.
- Job Search and Application Support: Conduct online job searches and submit applications for limited English speakers.
- Interview Support: Help clients prepare for interviews with mock interviews or informal conversations. Optional: Drive and accompany clients to interviews.
- Mentorship & Community Outreach: Provide guidance, refer clients to additional services, and assist with job fairs.
- Interpretation Utilization: Demonstrates comfort in using and learning interpretation software such as Google Translate, as well as working alongside professional interpreters in person, online, or over the phone.
- Language Coaching: Help limited English speakers learn key job-related terms and phrases through Google Translate, Language Line, and other interpretation channels.
- Administrative Tasks: Document case notes and utilize a CRM database to track client progress.
- Onboarding Support (Optional): Transport clients to local organizations to complete onboarding tasks (e.g., purchasing work uniforms or drug screenings).
- Impact: Help a diverse set of job seekers, including refugees, immigrants, and others facing employment barriers.
- Skill Development: Gain experience in career services, mentorship, client support, and nonprofit programming.
