Overview
The JFS Community Programs Coordinator is a unique non-exempt position, “officially” serving two distinct agency programs, while reporting to the Director of Community Outreach & Case Management. The JFS Community Programs Coordinator will manage all aspects of Community Outreach programming, volunteer recruitment and placement, and will coordinate various outreach activities including community health fairs, resource fairs, and other “exhibit” opportunities. More importantly, the Community Programs Coordinator will be expected to “lead” LDL events and is further expected to help expand the reach of LDL by expanding the number of program sites.
Responsibilities
- Manage the volunteer recruitment, training, orientation, and client interaction - to support the various community outreach programs.
- Coordinate the logistics for the Friendly Visitor Program (FV): volunteer/client coordination and in-home visits.
- Develop and manage the training and the coordination of volunteers for the "Call Tree" program - reaching out to isolated clients for a brief check-in phone call.
- Coordinate client transportation to all community outreach events.
- Plan/organize the monthly gatherings for the Cafe Europa (Holocaust Survivor) Social Engagement Program.
- Manage the event logistics and oversee Cafe Europa 2.0 - a monthly live meeting specifically for local children of Holocaust survivors.
- Manage the oversight of "Let's Do Lunch" (LDL) programming - a live, two-hour event held regularly at six locations. Expand the program to new sites and recruit new clients/participants.
- Serve as JFS Liaison to the Campership Committee: successfully managing the process from campership application through grant award distribution.
- Develop community partnerships/collaborations to promote the above programs.
Qualifications
- High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree in social work, nursing, or health/human services preferred.
- Working knowledge of the provision of health care in a variety of settings, knowledge of community resources, and insurance and care delivery systems. Knowledge of the Jewish Community and cultures preferred.
Experience
- At least two years of outreach experience or equivalent, preferably with the senior population
- Experience with activity program hosting
Compensation and Benefits
- Every other Friday off (Alternative Work Schedule 75 hours/9 days)
- 100% health benefit coverage (HMO plan)
- Three (3) weeks accrued vacation time plus 12 days accrued sick-leave time off. Other time off includes: holidays (11), floating holidays (3), mental health days (2), bereavement, and jury duty.
