Under the direct supervision of their supervisor, the Clinician provides client-driven services in a timely, prompt manner within the agency practice setting. They will provide direct clinical services and may carry the responsibility for specialized services and duties as assigned by their supervisor. The Clinician will meet or exceed agency expectations of the number of scheduled weekly sessions and is available to their client caseload if an urgent need arises.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Within the framework of the agency's services, the Clinician is required to perform the duties listed below :

  • Provide direct counselling services (including individual, couples, family and / or group treatment practices) to a range of agency clients. The Clinician will incorporate up to date and evidence-based counselling techniques and strategies into practice when appropriate and may utilize a specialty in a particular area of practice.
  • Evaluate client's psychosocial needs, history, and status to develop initial diagnostic assessment.
  • Create and implement treatment / service plans based on client's stated treatment goals. Evaluate, modify, and / or change client's treatment goals, based on progress and within state regulations.
  • Responsible for up-to-date record keeping and report writing, as needed.
  • Assess client's financial needs and recommend assistance or other budgetary expenditures for clients when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with supervisor, and Director of Clinical Services regarding clinical needs of clients.
  • Provide mental health education and support to community groups, as needed.
  • Participate in Agency quality assurance and utilization review when asked.
  • Self-evaluate professional progress in skill development, reflective abilities, and growth objectives annually with supervisor.
  • Responsible for practicing in accordance with the agency policies and procedures and the NASW code of ethics.
  • Contributes ideas and suggestion to agency policies, practices, procedures, and programs; may serve as staff representative liaison with interdepartmental and Agency Board Committees.
  • Maintains active involvement in the social welfare policy as related to primary area of service responsibility, participates in professional seminars, conferences, workshops, etc., to increase professional knowledge; incorporates new developments into practice whenever appropriate; may prepare written material for publication for own professional development, contribution to the field and enhancement of agency image, programs, or related services.
  • Responsible for interpreting the agency's services to community groups, synagogues, organizations, and others.

  • Ability to apply new learning to the practice environment.
  • Ability to absorb new ideas and attitudes.
  • Ability to form therapeutic relationship with clients and positive collegial relationships.
  • Ability to organize and manage workload.
  • Ability to keep records.
  • Familiarity with and sensitivity to Jewish identity (including its religious, ethical, cultural, and social values).
  • Education and Experience required :

  • Graduation from an accredited mental health master's program (i.e. : social work, psychology, counseling, marriage, and family therapy)
  • New Jersey Clinical Licensure (i.e., LCSW, LPC, LMFT)
