Education Manager, Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC)

Description

The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia seeks a dynamic and passionate individual to fill the role of Education Associate. The Education Associate will foster positive relationships with administrators and faculty at local K-12 schools and university campuses. The primary focus of this position is to ensure that schools have access to appropriate resources for educating students about antisemitism and Israel and to collaborate on initiatives aimed at promoting the safety and well-being of Jewish students. 

Outreach and Relationship Building:

• Proactively establish, foster, and maintain strong relationships with administrators, educators, and staff at local K-12 schools and university campuses.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for educational initiatives related to antisemitism and Israel education.

Resource Coordination:

• Work closely with schools to identify their educational needs regarding antisemitism and Israel education.
• Coordinate with partner organizations such as ADL, AJC, and StandWithUs to help bring resources to schools
• Guide the selection and implementation of appropriate resources, curriculum, and materials.
• Collaborate with selected educators to integrate relevant content into existing curricula.

Training and Support:

• Conduct training sessions for educators on effective ways to address antisemitism in the classroom and promote a safe environment for Jewish students.
• Offer ongoing support and resources to schools, ensuring they have the tools needed to address and prevent antisemitic incidents.

Advocacy and Awareness:

• Advocate for the inclusion of antisemitism and Israel education in school policies and programs.
• Organize and participate in awareness campaigns to promote understanding and tolerance within the educational community.

Collaboration with the JCRC Team:

• Work collaboratively with other JCRC team members to align educational initiatives with broader community relations goals.
• Participate in meetings, conferences, and events related to education and community relations.
• Provide resources and educational support to other Jewish Federation professionals and colleagues, as needed and requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education, Jewish studies, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) or direct and relevant job experience encompassing the requirements of the position..
• At least 3 - 5 years previous and relevant experience working in or supporting the fields of education, community outreach, or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• An openness to listening to others opinions, and a willingness to understand a perspective different from your own.
• Knowledge of antisemitism, Israel education, and educational resources.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Passion for promoting diversity, inclusion, and a safe learning environment for all students.
• Ability to self-start and take a resourceful, proactive approach to work.
• Qualified candidate must have a professional, respectful and polished demeanor and be recognized as an ambassador and high level representative of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.
