Pay Rate: $25.00-$27.00 Hourly (Pay information will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position)
Full Time 40 hours Monday-Friday
GENERAL SCOPE: The Benefits Specialist performs diversified duties to coordinate the administrative details for the employee benefit programs and acts as the liaison between employees and representatives of the provider companies. Explains benefits to new employees when eligible, during orientation and at annual open enrollment. Advises employees and answers questions related to problems, claims, beneficiaries and other related matters. Owns the process for completing terminations including conducting audits and assists with entering or processing new hires. Provides assistance with customer service and leave management while supporting the policies and procedures of the human resources department.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred with three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in related field and have working knowledge of current benefit programs, requirements and compliance. Highly confidential, trustworthy and dependable with excellent people skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and in an HRIS with preference for experience in UKG (formerly Kronos).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain administrative processes for all employee benefit programs including health & welfare plans, flexible & dependent care spending, healthcare savings, group life/AD&D. long term disability insurance, internal programs such as tuition reimbursement, employee assistance program (EAP) and ancillary plans including voluntary benefits.
- Prepares and submits plan invoices into the finance system to pay monthly and quarterly premiums to insurance carriers on a timely basis and audits invoices for accuracy. Reports discrepancies on monthly invoice summary and follows up with vendors to ensure credit is received.
- Manages relations with vendors including maintaining plans/programs on vendor portals. Maintains benefit materials and plan documents in the HRIS system.
- Collaborates with vendors to ensure receipt of plan materials for open enrollment and new hires.
- Manages plan/program compliance including required notices, Medicare Part D, Disclosure of Creditable/non Creditable Drug Coverage to CMS.
- Process insurance premiums. Prepare check request to pay monthly and quarterly premiums to insurance carriers on a timely basis and audit bills for accuracy.
