Summary
As a member of the management team of Jewish Silicon Valley (“JSV”) and under the supervision of the Jewish Life and Culture Director, the Israeli Programs Manager is responsible for helping build and strengthen the Israeli community in our region and for helping build bridges between local Israelis, Bay Area Jews, and Jewish communal organizations and groups. The Israeli Programs Manager works with JSV staff, lay leaders and partner organizations as appropriate in planning, implementing and evaluating Israeli programs, including holiday celebrations, performances, speakers, films, and community events. Supports agency-wide programs throughout the year. Communicates with co-workers, instructors, students, participants and community members about Israeli programs. Strives to further the mission of the JSV by creating quality Israeli programming for the JSV community and the diverse Silicon Valley Community.
Areas of Responsibility
Responsible for the following general categories and functions, to include but not limited to:
Israeli Program Oversight & Administration
- Create a sense of belonging, and a feeling of connection and support within a growing local Israeli community and between Israelis and the local Jewish community
- Continually monitor community interests, engagement and needs to provide meaningful, current and relevant Israeli programs and connections
- Ensure integrity and high quality of all Israeli programs
- Effectively evaluate programs and prioritize initiatives to achieve maximum impact
- Maintain all departmental budgets within guidelines.
- Hire, coordinate and supervise Israeli speakers, performers, artists, teachers, and authors, with support of the Jewish Life and Culture Director
- Act as department liaison with outside agencies and partner organizations
- Facilitate contractual agreements and handle all other administrative paperwork in coordination with the Senior Director of Business Operations.
- Process payments, ticket sales, class registrations, fees for programs for all Israeli Programs
- Recruit, train, manage, and supervise volunteers for programs, and events
- Respond to inquiries about Israeli events and programs
- Effectively communicate with program participants, speakers, artists, etc.
- Manage Israeli programs calendar to maintain up-to-date listings of offerings
- Collaborate with other JSV departments, including Beged Kefet and Philanthropy, on joint events and programs and provide staff support for agency-wide programs throughout the year:
- Participate actively in regular Jewish Life and Culture meetings, program cabinet meetings, programming meetings, facility meetings, and other meetings as required.
- Work with Jewish Life and Culture Director to follow the approval process for all new programs.
Publicity/Marketing
- Sends Israeli e-blasts weekly using JSV communication methods.
- Create and distribute flyers and posters and online communications in coordination with the Marketing team
- Submit materials for Israeli section of the Programming Guides and website
- Coordinate with outside agencies on co-sponsorships or partnerships
Finances
- Develop and maintain annual Israeli budget, with support of the Jewish Life and Culture Director
- Track expenditures and ensure paperwork is maintained appropriately and submitted to Finance Department in a timely manner
- Partner with the Philanthropy Department to build a culture of philanthropy, proactively research additional grant opportunities, and assist in grant writing as needed.
- Track payroll, ensure accuracy and submit in a timely manner.
- Make purchases on behalf of JSV.
- Partner with the Philanthropy Department on fundraising efforts.
Qualifications
Qualifications and competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in program development and management
- Demonstrated effective communication skills in English and Hebrew – both verbally and written
- Ability to work in a team environment - a true team player, who can forge relationships within the JSV community, and beyond.
- Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with limited to no supervision
- A proven track record of maintaining budgets and staying within budget guidelines
- Social media savvy a significant plus
- This position is contingent upon the completion and cleared background check of a fingerprint and LiveScan assessment.
Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc.:
- Fluent in Hebrew
- Fluent in English
- Ability to effectively use computer applications and technology, including database software and Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Experience with Photoshop is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of the Israeli community, Israeli culture, Israeli history, and Jewish values
Working Conditions/Physical requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry 45 lbs.
- Ability to stand, sit, lift, bend, twist
- Ability to work on computer for an extended period of time
- Community Center environment with both office and program responsibilities

- Work in the vicinity of children and older adults
- Occasional travel may be required
- MUST be able to work nights and weekends.
- This position requires non-traditional working hours.
