POSITION SUMMARY: The Career Coach provides outreach to Transitions to Work program graduates who are beyond their one-year service period and reengages them to provide career advancement services. With each participant, the Career Coach sets individual career goals and provides supportive services including career counseling, resume updating, interview, job search assistance and job coaching as needed. The Career Coach is responsible for developing strong job leads and job placement assistance to participants. The Career Coach provides on the job training and pre-employment job readiness skills to program participants. The Career Coach provides trainings and information to employer partners regarding working effectively with individuals with disabilities. The Career Coach will initiate and sustain collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater Boston area. Applies a strong knowledge about issues related to individuals with significant barriers to employment. The Career Coach is part of a larger JVS team that supports employment, training, and education needs of clients and employers. This role is onsite 4 days a week at partner organizations. You will need to travel to Greater Boston and Greater Brockton (including but not limited to Brockton, Easton, Stoughton, and Randolph). Access to a car is highly recommended.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Accountability and Results Focused
- Assist participants in both one-on-one and group settings in job search-related activities.
- Provide outreach to past program participants to determine the need for career advancement services.
- As needed, escort participants to job interviews and facilitate interview and hiring process.
- Provide post-placement services including follow-up with job-seeker and employer.
- Develop curricula, and provide trainings and classroom instruction on essential skills needed to enhance employability.
Build relationships, collaboration, and teamwork
- Actively develop new and maintain existing employer relationships
- Develop a solid understanding of the employer’s needs and the specific job tasks
- Use strategic, structured, and systematic intervention techniques (i.e., Task Analysis) to assist the participants in learning to perform job tasks to employer specifications.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness.
Administrative/Communication
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness

- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Flexibility with in-person services and local travel required within the Greater Boston and Greater Brockton (including but not limited to Brockton, Easton, Stoughton, Randolph)
- Highly recommended to have access to a car.
- An understanding of job development and job placement required.
- Experience in marketing and outreach strongly desired.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain collaborative working relationships with a variety of businesses in the greater Boston area.
- 1-3 years of experience in workforce development or related field required.
- 1-3 years of experience in working with individuals with barriers to employment desired.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills are required.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
- Presentation and facilitation skills.
