POSITION SUMMARY
JVS MassHire seeks a Digital Literacy Navigator to deliver innovative, customer-focused, and technology-driven career services to job seekers through the One Stop Career Center, MassHire Downtown Boston. The Digital Literacy Navigator, in collaboration with the Career Center team, will assist job seekers from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience to gain and improve upon essential digital literacy skills and obtain employment.
The Digital Literacy Navigator empowers individuals to overcome digital challenges and develop essential computer skills for employability. Through personalized one-on-one coaching and group workshops, the Navigator plays a vital role in assessing clients’ digital proficiency, identifying barriers, and creating tailored learning plans to enhance digital skills and readiness for the job market. Additionally, the Digital Literacy Navigator will oversee special projects and initiatives assigned by Career Center management. This role requires strong interpersonal and teaching skills, exceptional customer service, and technology expertise. This is an onsite position, stationed full time at our Downtown Boston office at 75 Federal Street, Boston, MA.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Workshops and Group Training (50%)
- Lead educational workshops and group training sessions focused on building digital literacy skills essential for gaining and maintaining employment.
- Modify and utilize existing digital literacy curriculum to create impactful workshops and group training sessions.
- Develop new digital literacy curriculum as needed.
- Facilitate engaging workshops and group training sessions with expertise and professionalism, utilizing adult education methodologies and interactive facilitation techniques. Leverage technology to maximize participant interaction and enhance learning outcomes.
Career Coaching for Digital Literacy (40%)
- Collaborate with career navigators and the MHDB team to identify clients needing digital skill support.
- Conduct individualized coaching sessions for clients with diverse backgrounds.
- Assess clients’ technology literacy levels and coach clients to gain and improve upon essential digital literacy skills.
- Support clients through multiple coaching sessions, ensuring all technology barriers are effectively addressed so they can function independently and continue building their skills.
- Maintain accurate, detailed notes and records in the MOSES database after each appointment to track progress and outcomes.
Resource Building Portfolio (10%)
- Develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations to expand resources and opportunities for clients.
- Create, organize, and maintain folders, files, and support documents to effectively share information with clients and the team.
- Assist in the creation of forms, flyers, and other documents to communicate with partners, clients, and team members.

- Support and promote the mission and philosophy of JVS / MHDB both internally and outside the agency.
- Function as part of the JVS and MHDB teams to provide high quality workforce development and employment services.

- Serve and refer customers in accordance with the requirements of the One Stop Career Center Charter and ensure that services are based on individuals’ career goals.
- Work effectively with other program and administrative staff to ensure the smooth referral of customers to appropriate services and employment opportunities.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and team-oriented projects.
- Assist other Career Center team members as needed.

- Apply knowledge of local and national labor market trends to assist job seekers with identifying viable career opportunities.
- Participate in meetings and planning sessions with JVS and MassHire staff to devise and implement strategies that improve performance and service delivery.
- Establish and monitor program performance by using the Massachusetts One Stop Employment System (MOSES) to meet and/or exceed objectives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- BA in Education or Computer Science
- Experience in IT Support and/or Corporate Training
- Advanced computer and technology expertise
- Strong teaching skills and knowledge of adult education and classroom instructional methods.
- Proven ability to develop and modify curriculum for impactful workshops and training.
- Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively engage with diverse individuals (including staff, clients, and stakeholders).
- Previous experience supporting culturally diverse populations is highly valued.
- Familiarity with the MassHire Career Center system, the MOSES database, and a keen awareness of regional employment trends is advantageous.
