Role Overview : The Student Engagement Manager is first and foremost about building and maintaining relationships with our students, providing individualized support and guidance, and ensuring we fulfill our commitments to the students we serve. This role, like the other members of our engagement team, will have a portfolio of students they work with directly, but it is also responsible for thinking about and engaging the entire student community. It also serves as a support role to our Assistant Director, providing administrative and logistics capacity, advising on student-facing issues, and generally helping to guide the engagement team. Student Engagement Manager is also an essential presence at most of our programs, many of which occur in the evenings, Friday nights, and Sundays.
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. Our current timeline for hiring would have someone in this role by February 10th, 2025.
What You’ll Do
Hillel plays an extraordinary role at Tulane in building a Jewish community that is open, accessible, and diverse. The Student Engagement Manager is involved in all aspects of community activities, from developing engagement strategies to running large-scale event logistics. The role also consists of cultivating genuine yet professional relationships with students and guiding them through college life.
- Act as the lead liaison between students and the Tulane Hillel team, thoughtfully finding ways to spend time with students, building trusting relationships, connecting students with resources, and acting as a support system throughout their college experience. Sometimes, this involves supporting students with difficult life situations and connecting them to campus resources.
- Participate in our Engagement Team, which is led by the Assistant Director, to create and lead student outreach / recruitment programming.
- Mentor students participating in the Tulane Jewish Leaders program to create diverse programs and initiatives to engage their peers and build community on campus.
- Serve as administrative support to the Assistant Director, organizing team-wide systems and processes, acting as a thought partner, and providing additional capacity as needed.
