Position Summary
The Public Relations Coordinator shall provide support to the Director Relations, Assistant Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, and / or President. The Public Relations Coordinator will adhere to the policies as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, Federal and State regulations, and the Drake State Community & Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.
Salary : Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees
Salary Schedule E3, Grade 03
Salary Range $45,220 - $62,710 (12 months, Non-Exempt)
Salary step placement is based on experience per Drake State's practice for awarding salary step credits.
Work Hours : 8 : 00 am - 5 : 30 pm Monday - Thursday and 8 : 00 am 12 : 00 pm Friday
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Public Relations Coordinator will adhere to the policies as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, Federal and State regulations, and the Drake State Community & Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.
- Assist Director with all aspects of the department’s efforts
- Assist Director with all aspects of the department’s efforts
- Curate and post social media content on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
- Use a social media management tool to monitor / respond to all engagement
- Assist the Director with monthly social media reports
- Assist Director with internal communications including digital displays, e-newsletters and campus signage
- Make approved updates to the website as needed
- Disseminate College news to external stakeholders and partners
- Coordinate promotion and marketing-related support for College events
- Coordinate College participation in community events and sponsorships
- Track media coverage of College and local and state education stories
- Inventory and distribute promotional materials for recruitment and marketing purposes
- Adhere to written plans in place (organizational and departmental)
- Participate in community events as needed
- Identify new opportunities to promote the college
- Take photos and videos of events, people, campus, etc.
- Assist in event setup
- Perform job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the overall mission and core values of the College
- Receive and handle communications, including electronic communications, correspondence and telephone calls
- Manage office affairs in an effective and professional manner
- Compose emails, letters, memorandums, and other correspondence
- Serve on college committees as requested
- Order and maintain department materials and supplies
- Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts
- Perform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Public Relations, Assistant Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, and / or President
