What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Estimator position at JF White?
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, interpret, and accurately estimate scopes of work as described in the project documents.
- Prepares take-off and pricing for all Civil disciplines.
- Contacts prospective subcontractors and participates in evaluation of their qualifications.
- Participates in putting final bid together on bid day, Attends pre-bid conferences as requested, Prepares portion of subcontracts, purchase agreements and large purchase orders.
- Aid in preparing preliminary progress schedules.
- Responsible for all aspects of estimating including pre-construction, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, value engineering and subcontractor bidding.
- Solicit and collect subcontractor/vendor bids and quotations.
- Assists in the preparation of detailed requisitions for material purchase, services, and subcontracts.
- Identify any unique Quality Control provisions required for the project.
- Determine safety requirements for projects for incorporation into estimates.
- Negotiate with Owners and Subcontractors. Establish and maintain relationships with clients in order to define their needs, explain technical information, concepts or study results.
- Under the guidance of a more senior engineer, assists in reviewing supplier drawing submittals and technical bid analyses.
- Assists in the preparation and issuance of specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
- Provides input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project.
- Verify and complete request for proposals, estimates and other technical documents.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
- 3 years of estimating in estimating with a civil general contractor and / or general subcontractor.
