The BLS Instructor conducts training and education at the basic life support level in concert with the overall mission of the EMS training center. Provides logistical support for on-site and off-site courses, supports EMS training Center leadership through clerical and operational functions in addition to teaching courses.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a BLS Instructor at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

Lifts a minimum of 5lbs, pushes and pulls a minimum of 25 lbs. and stands a minimum of 3 hours a day.

The BLS Instructor conducts training and education at the basic life support level in concert with the overall mission of the EMS training center. Provides logistical support for on-site and off-site courses, supports EMS training Center leadership through clerical and operational functions in addition to teaching courses.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a BLS Instructor at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Able to conduct training and education at the basic life support level in concert with the overall mission of the EMS training center.
- Provides logistics support for onsite and offsite course offerings.
- Supports EMS training center leadership through clerical and operational functions in addition to teaching courses.
- Needs to maintain EMS certification and BLS Instructor.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- A minimum of 2 years of Healthcare (EMT or higher level / or specialized instructor - addiction dispatch drug use) experience as a provider.
- Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
- Minimum of 1-year Instructor experience.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
- BLS Instructor Trainer within 6 months of entering position.
- Valid Driver's License from a USA state.
- National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification, Emergency Medical Technician Instructor, Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic (MICP) Certification, Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) Certification, or a higher-level medical license.
- AHA BLS Instructor Certification.
- Emergency Medical Technician aid.
- EMR Instructor Certification.
