A day in the life of a Laundry Worker at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

The Laundry Worker processes linen in an industrial laundry setting.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Laundry Worker at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Folds linen and transports to storage and delivery carts.
- Delivers processed linens via an exchange cart system and a PAR replenishment system.
- Processes linen through automated equipment such as the ironer.
- Performs continuous quality inspection of linen for stains and tears.
- Picks up soiled linen and transports to processing area.
- Posts sort damp clean linen into classifications at the rate of the wash machine speed when assigned.
- Assists cleaning of work areas, sweeping and dusting.
- Prepares exchange and PAR carts.
- Feeds washing machines with soiled linen.
- Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Centers Organizational Competencies.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- 3 to 5 years experience in a production environment.
- Experience in a laundry service.
- Prior experience with high volume automated machinery.
