Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director to join our team. The JFUMC CCC Assistant Director will maintain all operations of the CCC in the director’s absence, assist the CCC Director in day-to-day operations, and supervise the staff to ensure the quality of the program.
Qualifications:
- Have a strong love and desire to work with children and their families
- Knowledge and passion for basic Christian values and ability to incorporate it into the daily work of the CCC.
- Meet the state-required minimum qualifications for a licensed child care assistant director;
- At least 21 years of age
- Pass State and Federal criminal and child maltreatment background checks
- Provide documentation of one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field (determined by the state).
- Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field plus one of the following; 4 years of experience in early childhood education, Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Birth-Prek Credential.
- Associate degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field, plus six (6) years of experience in Early Childhood Education
- Eight (8) years of experience in Early Childhood Education and completion of one (1) of the following:
- Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)
- Birth-Prek Credential
- Director’s Credential or equivalent
- Technical Certificate in Early Childhood Education
- CPR certified
- Ability to lead and manage staff
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer competency
Responsibilities:
- In the CCC director’s absence, the Assistant Director is the administrator in charge of all operations of the CCC.
- Complete New Directors Orientation, Program Administration Scale (PAS), and Environment Rating Scale (ERS) training in the states Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) within 3 months or provide certificate of completion.
- Attend CCC Board meetings whenever the director cannot attend.
- Assist in welcoming and training new staff.
- Assist the director in supervision of all staff.
- Implement and assist staff to follow all state regulations (found in the DHS Minimum Licensing Manual) on a daily basis.
- Assist the director in providing a safe, clean and loving environment for the children, as well as a positive atmosphere for families and staff.
- Assist in maintaining current and complete records/documentation for the center:
- New hire records that satisfy state requirements
- Staff training records
- Monthly tornado and fire drills
- Building and fire inspection records
- Recall lists
- Playground equipment checklists
- Student records
- Maintain confidentiality between staff and families.
- Provide assistance in classrooms as necessary to cover breaks and absences.
- Supervise classroom activities and assist with preparing curriculum as needed.
- Ensure all classrooms meet and exceed qualifications set by Better Beginnings Level 2.
- Complete training hours required on a yearly basis.
- Strictly follow and assist in enforcing all JFUMC CCC policies as laid out in the handbook.
- Assist with the ongoing safety and cleanliness of the facility so all interior and exterior maintenance and service procedures are completed in a timely manner.
- Be familiar with the policies of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to be able to assist with documentation as needed.
- Must have a willingness to take on various tasks and adapt to new responsibilities as deemed necessary by the director.
