Construction Controller
About The Job:
JG Development, inc. is seeking an experienced, driven, and dependable Construction Controller to join our team. This role will collaborate with our management team and outside vendors on a daily basis. The Controller will establish and maintain the organization’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. The Controller is responsible for the production of financial reports, cash and risk management, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets that are designed to mitigate risks, enhance the assurance of the company’s reporting financial results and that the report results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Oversee accounting procedures/controls and protects assets to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maximize return, and limit risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances and making investments by identifying opportunities to create growth for all companies.
- Manages the cash flow process to ensure accuracy, forecasting, maximizing returns and reconciliation. Anticipating capital funding requirements.
- Develop financial strategies.
- Achieves budget objectives and provide reports regarding financial condition.
- Stay on top of the opportunities by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects; analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction and system enhancement; accumulating capital to fund expansion.
- Lead vendor relationships related to finance.
- Collaborate with department managers to ensure financials are accurate, timely, and complete.
- Maintains depreciation schedule and capital lease schedules to close out all GL accounts.
- Assist in managing the ESOP plan ensuring transactions, payments, and reports are done. Collaborate with the ESOP trustee, TPA, and CPA team on all reports, payments and needs related to the plan.
- Oversee the finance staff and ensure performance results are achieved.
- Develop and execute accounting processes.
- Facilitate company accounting software.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and QUALIFCATIONS NEEDED:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field is required
- Masters of Business Administration is preferred
- 10-15 years of direct experience in Finance or Accounting is required with 5 years’ experience functioning as a Controller while working for a general contractor in the Construction field
- CPA License is preferred
- 5 years’ experience in strategic planning and execution
- Ability to negotiate effectively along with excellent communication skills
- Strong ability to analyze financial data and make financial reports to forecast with the ability to make recommendations for improvements in operations and overhead
- Efficient time management and logical decision making ability
- Valid driver’s license with proof of insurance is required; with the ability to travel within Wisconsin and other states as necessary
- Successful completion of background check
