Canadian Payroll Specialist
Salary: $62,500K
Location: Birmingham, MI
*This role requires you to have end-to-end Canadian payroll experience and legislation. This includes Canada Payroll, Gross-to-Net Payroll, ADP, advanced excel skills and great attention to detail.*
Position Summary: JGA are supporting a client seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join their team. This role involves providing comprehensive support in all areas of payroll, including payroll processing, garnishments, HR data management, and special projects. You will also prepare reports in compliance with legislated requirements and company needs, addressing employee concerns regarding payroll issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Biweekly updating and reconciliation of payroll balance sheets.
- Entry of employee data such as new hires, terminations, rate changes, and updates to tax and address information.
- Reviewing weekly hour submissions from field offices to ensure compliance with Department of Labor regulations and corporate financial policies.
- Providing prompt responses to questions or concerns from field offices.
- Managing certified payroll billing information as required.
- Conducting audits and controls between ADP/GL and JDE to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Identifying system issues and collaborating with the manager for resolution.
- Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of payroll processes to achieve industry-leading standards.
- Adhering to company and department policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Dealing with RRSP, handling taxation, workers comp, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong time management, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to proactively support field office staff and interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and payroll/time recording software.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll, tax, and labor regulations.
- Professional appearance and demeanor with excellent telephone communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others and maintain professional interactions with co-workers and vendors.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- At least two years of experience working with payroll and time recording systems.
