Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Groundskeeper/Maintenance Worker to assist with the upkeep and maintenance of a multi-unit residential building. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage various tasks related to the cleanliness and safety of the property. The role is essential for ensuring that the building and its surroundings are well-maintained and functional at all times.
While the primary responsibilities listed below are the main focus, additional tasks may arise from time to time, such as coordinating with repair contractors, pest control services, alarm service providers, or lawn care companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laundry Room Maintenance: Regularly clean and organize the laundry room to maintain a clean, safe environment for tenants.
- Basement Common Areas: Sweep and keep basement common areas clean and well-maintained.
- Trash Management: Ensure that trash bins in front and behind the building are emptied regularly and disposed of properly.
- Courtyard Cleanup: Remove trash, weeds, and debris from the courtyard area to keep the grounds neat.
- Parking Lot & Driveway: Walk through the parking lot and driveway regularly to pick up any trash or debris.
- Building Walkthrough: Conduct regular interior and exterior inspections of the building. This includes checking furnace rooms and ensuring there are no issues such as broken water heaters or other hazards.
- Snow Removal: Clear snow from walkways and apply salt as needed to ensure safe access for tenants.
- Work Orders: Submit work orders for necessary repairs or maintenance issues and follow up as required.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or a similar field is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, walking, and bending.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify maintenance or cleanliness issues.
- Good communication skills to report concerns and submit work orders as needed.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Information:
This is an off-site position, though you will be expected to visit the property regularly to manage the tasks and maintenance duties. The role allows flexibility to manage your time within the required hours each week, but consistent attention to the upkeep of the building and grounds is critical.
