We are looking for a talented and dedicated Counter Sales / Branch Lead to join our team at our new location in Rochester, MN. The Counter Sales / Branch Lead is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the counter sales, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, and the achievement of branch sales goals. This role combines hands-on-customer interaction with operational leadership, inventory management, and team development responsibilities. Responsibilities Include:
- Provide exceptional service and write orders for walk in, phone, and email customers, while promoting vendor-preferred, sponsored, and add-on items
- Assist with order pickups, keep up the calling queue
- Research and problem solve customer orders. Address escalated customer concerns and operational issues
- Lead and oversee daily counter and branch operations, collaborate with Branch Manager to meet sales targets and operational KPIs, and monitor/enhance the workflow of the counter team to maximize productivity. Train, mentor, and motivate employees while providing feedback and coaching to improve sales techniques and customer interactions
- Offer expert product knowledge, pricing, and recommendations tailored to customer needs. Develop and maintain positive customer relationships to drive repeat business
- Maintain accurate inventory management. Ensure stock levels are maintained, coordinate with purchasing to address low-stock and overstock situations and oversee product displays and organization to optimize accessibility and visual appeal
- Update displays and assist with product merchandising/facing. Maintain cleanliness of counter space and displays
- Update internal notes on orders
- Process daily sales reports, assist with invoicing and payment collection, and support branch safety and compliance
- Support warehouse operations and perform related duties as needed
Qualifications
Education
- Highschool diploma or GED
Experience and/or Training
- 1 year working in a warehouse environment as a team member, working with power equipment, and pulling orders. A solid understanding of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping processes.
- 3 years in counter sales, customer service, or related roles, with leadership experience preferred
- Computer experience.
- Math skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations and to other employees of the organization.
- Self-motivated and self-starter
- Organized, strong time management skills. Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and collaborate within a multi-functional team.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work safely and accurately. Familiarity with health and safety standards relevant to warehouse operations, such as OSHA regulations.
- A team player – work together with others to accomplish common goals of company.
- Detail oriented, organized, consistent, and tenacious.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC components is helpful
Licenses/Certificates
- Valid US Driver’s license and/or reliable transportation
