Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management and estimating, with the ability to analyze project specifications and prepare accurate cost estimates. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget, contributing to the overall success of our construction operations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine concrete requirements of each project.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective pricing
- Utilize estimating software and tools for effective construction estimating and project management.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to gather necessary information for accurate pricing and timelines.
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather data for cost control purposes.
- Prepare detailed reports outlining estimated costs, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor and overhead expenses.
- Monitor project budgets and provide ongoing cost analysis throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in contract negotiations by providing accurate pricing information and supporting documentation.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to each project.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in construction estimating or a related field is essential.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using estimating software (e.g., BlueBeam, ProEst) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with cost control measures and budget management in a construction setting.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail when reviewing plans and specifications.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders including contractors, architects, engineers and clients.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively present estimates and reports.
- A degree in Construction Management or a related field is a plus but not required.
