JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Survey Superintendent is responsible for the safe and on-time delivery of the project while maintaining quality, environment, and budget. Survey Superintendent shall provide leadership and support to the Construction Operations Team through planning, coordinating, and directing of daily activities while ensuring adequate staff and resources are available to support survey/layout services requested.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Core Duties / Responsibilities:

  • The Survey Superintendent combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on field work, ensuring both the quality of survey delivery and the timely completion of layout/survey tasks.
  • Create and maintain a detailed and accurate job schedule.
  • The Survey Superintendent leads, implements, and enforces jobsite safety requirements and JHL Quality Assurance Program
  • Responsible for all jobsite documentation that is specific to the Survey/Layout Superintendent role.
    • Daily Reports / Surveyor logbook records
    • Maintain an accurate construction Schedule
    • Quality Control Checklists and Inspections
    • Safety Program Compliance and Weekly Inspections
    • Photo documentation as required
  • Responsible for ensuring the most accurate up to date contract drawings are being used for all layout needs.
  • Manage all JHL on-site survey/layout field staff
    • Coordinate and manage tasks with consideration to hours and budget.
    • Conduct reviews as directed by the Construction Managers or General Superintendents.
    • Update manpower needs with as much advanced notice as is practical.
  • Able to assess the accuracy and completeness of Design and control files.
    • Review and document relevant coordination issues
  • Provide technical guidance and training of various survey/layout equipment, tools and processes.
  • Understand contractual and legal guidelines of construction management and processes.
  • Create and maintain daily time sheets, data logs, expense reports and field change orders.
  • Manage inventory of equipment and perform regular maintenance checks of equipment.
  • The ability to work in a variety of construction environments including commercial, educational, industrial and health care related projects.
  • Map processes used by Survey and Layout department for review and improvement.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Willingness to pursue continued education on Survey, Layout and Geomatics.
  • Capable to perform physical field surveys and as-builts utilizing Robotics, GPS, Theodolite and Automatic level systems.

 

Education / Experience/ Training:

  • High School Diploma, or GED Equivalent.
  • 8-10 Years of experience in commercial construction
  • Maintain OSHA 30 (minimum) and recommended refresher training as well as any project specific/need based safety training.
  • Attend training for operational software as needed to stay current.
  • 5 years of experience using TopCon with Magnet Field software or Trimble Equipment with Trimble Business Cetner and Trimble Connect

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of commercial construction and exceptional jobsite management skills; Delivers on key projects and commitments via professional knowledge and leadership abilities.
  • Possesses detailed process & application knowledge relating to building codes, budget management, construction practices, project scheduling etc.

 

Physical Requirements: Jobsite Trailer: 

  • Must have the ability to remain in a seated position. 90% 
  • Must have the ability to speak, write and comprehend English language. 100% 
  • Must have the ability to lift office products and supplies, up to 20 lbs. 20% 
  • Must have the ability to hear clearly. 100% 
  • Must have the ability to stoop, kneel, bend and reach. 10% 
  • Must have dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse. 100% 

 

Physical Requirements: Field: 

  • Must have the ability to remain in a standing or kneeling position. 90% 
  • Must have the ability to speak, write and comprehend English language. 50% 
  • Must have the ability to lift tools and supplies, up to 50 lbs. 40% 
  • Must have the ability to hear clearly. 100% 
  • Must have the ability to stoop, kneel, bend and reach. 100% 
  • Must have dexterity to utilize and manipulate tools and materials. 100%

WORK ENVIRONMENT / TRAVEL: 

FIELD:  Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather: rain, heat, and loud noises. Up to 10%, and/or daily travel as business requires during scheduled work hours.

Salary : $80,000 - $130,000
