Position Description:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the production process remains smooth and efficient by organizing workflows and monitoring staff. They will be responsible for directing, training and assisting production workers to ensure on time delivery and quality of orders while maintaining costs. Additionally, ensure safety and regulatory requirements are adhered to. Responsible to track and drive improvements in the following KPIs; Safety (TRIR), Quality (right the first time), Production Waste / Losses, Efficiency (OEE), and Service (delivery on time). Have fundamental business financial knowledge to assist in improving items such as production variance, inventory levels, direct and indirect labor costs and EBITDA. Work closely with plant maintenance on reducing machine downtime.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the following duties:
Supervise production department:
o Take immediate steps to remove obstacles and eliminate unnecessary downtime to achieve production goals.
o Work with Production and Quality to troubleshoot machines and resolve production and/or quality issues.
o Responsible for coaching, education and necessary discipline of staff along with related documentation.
o Evaluate employee performance, provide feedback and recommend opportunities for skill development or advancement.
o Coordinate with plant scheduler to ensure production is effective.
o Ensure quality products are made as efficiently as possible, adhering to the job instructions and established quality procedures.
o Supervise use of PPE and ensure adherence to safety policies.
o Conduct regular safety inspections and resolve any potential hazards immediately.
o Train and mentor team members on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
o Supports CI and Lean strategy.
o Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production quality.
Advise Plant Manager on production/organization related topics.
o Assist in the recruiting and onboarding of new hires and temporary workers.
o Assess/evaluate performance.
o Analyze production activities, then recommend or implement corrective actions.
o Report technical faults/malfunctions to Plant Manager.
o Support Plant Manager on ISO topics.
o Collect data and compile report about production including reporting production and critical KPIs.
o Collect time-card data and submit for employees and temporary staff.
College degree or commensurate experience required.
Minimum 5 years Manufacturing experience and 2 years Supervisory Leadership experience.
Maintenance background is a plus, however, must have a fundamental knowledge of basic machine electrical and mechanical functionality.
Fluent in English, bilingual in Spanish desired.
Valid Forklift Certificate desired.
Working knowledge of production processes, machinery, and quality control standards.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Excellent organizational, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving skills, Yellow Belt or above preferred.
Experienced on ERP systems and Office packages.
Knowledge of ISO systems is desired.
Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms and use hands to manipulate objects.
The use of common hand tools and occasionally sharp objects are involved.
The employee must be able to move and/or lift objects up to 50 pounds often.
