Responsible for renovating used vehicles for resale in accordance with the dealership’s quality standards, time and cost limitations.
Essential Job Functions
- Records discrepancies for each vehicle delivered. Inspects vehicles for all interior and exterior defects including: dents, scratches, torn upholstery and poor mechanical operation.
- Replaces missing or defective small parts.
- Starts engine and drives vehicles to test steering, brake, transmission and engine operation.
- Activates power equipment such as electric windows, horn, lights, and directional signals to ensure specified operating standards.
- Injects grease into units, such as springs, universal joints, and steering knuckles, using hand or compressedair powered grease gun.
- Inspects fluid levels of steering gear, power steering reservoir, transmission, differential, rear axle housings, and shackles.
- Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants.
- Clearly communicates verbally in person and by telephone with management, co-workers and customers regarding the service requirements of the vehicle.
- English reading and math skills sufficient to read all technical related documents, Material Safety Data Sheets, insurance and manufacturer’s information (approximately the 10th grade level).
- Consistent, regular and timely, daily or as scheduled attendance.
- Legibly completes required forms, documents and reports as needed.
- Accurately compares, reads and records identified numbers up to “18” alphanumeric series (i.e. Vehicle Identification Numbers, part numbers).
- Works extended hours (potentially 10 hour days), spur of the moment overtime AND consecutive work days on a regular and irregular basis.
- Extensive (up to 8 consecutive hours) standing and walking (up to 4 miles daily) on cement, usual parking lot surfaces, tile, linoleum and other interior and exterior flooring surfaces.
- Repeated, regular and extended sliding, twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching and reaching.
- Repeated and regular getting in and out of different sized vehicles.
- Repeated lifting, leveraging and carrying of up to 50 pounds for both short and longer distances and over a variety of walking surfaces.
- Uses all equipment safely and with a high level of expertise.
- Mentally recall, track and accurately recount work in progress.
- Accurately uses and records pertinent repair information.
- Extensive work outside, during daytime and nighttime hours in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
- Maintaining a cooperative and courteous manner with customers and co-workers.
- Valid driver’s license and insurability by employee’s carrier.
- Possess and provide all tools sufficient to accomplish the repair jobs assigned.
- Ability to maintain good employee relations by acting courteously and amicably towards other co-workers.

- Pass observed and SAMHSA certified drug screen.
- Present documents to certify eligibility to work.
- Have work history verified as accurate.
