Vehicle Detailer (Various Locations)

Position Summary

Cleans and refurbishes new and used vehicles. Washes exterior of vehicles with cleaning solutions and water, using cloths, brushes and spraying equipment; cleans all interior fabric, vinyl and leather surfaces using vacuum equipment, cleaning agents, brushes, mechanized cleaning equipment and hand tools; applies waxes and protectants to exterior surfaces and utilizes mechanized and hand application processes; uses a variety of cleaners, polishes, preservation agents throughout the vehicle to obtain highest quality/”new vehicle” look; uses limited paint, dyes and reconditioning chemicals to interior and exterior of vehicle; obeys all state and federal OSHA regulations and understand and complies with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) requirements; adheres to all company policies, procedures and ethical standards, and established industry guidelines; operates standard and automatic transmission vehicles.

Essential Job Functions

• Applies wax and protectants to exterior surfaces, utilizing mechanized and hand application processes.
• Utilizes variety of cleaners, polishers, preservation agents throughout vehicles to obtain highest
• Quality / “new vehicle” look.
• Uses limited paint, dye and reconditioning chemicals to interior and exterior of vehicle.
• Obeys all state and federal OSHA regulations, understand and complies with Material Safety Data Sheets requirements.
• Regularly and consistently adheres to all Company policies, procedures and ethical standards and established industry guidelines.
  
  

Essential Job Requirements

• Communicates clearly in English with co-workers and supervisor regarding the requirements for each vehicle.
• Daily attendance that is consistent, regular and timely.
• Drives standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Extensive (up to 6 consecutive hours) standing, climbing, walking and fast walking (approximately a combined 10 miles daily) on cement, unusual parking lot surfaces, tile, linoleum and other interior and exterior flooring surfaces.
• Repeated, regular and extended bending, twisting, sliding, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching and reaching.
• Mentally recalls, tracks and accurately recounts work in progress; the ability to apply pertinent work information.
• Extensive out-of-doors work during daytime and night time hours in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
• Uses cooperative and courteous manners with customers, co-workers and management personnel.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability by employer’s carrier.
• Accurately compares, reads and records identification numbers up to “18” alphanumeric series (i.e., Vehicle Identification Number, part numbers).
• Works extended hours (potentially 10 hour days), spur of the moment overtime AND consecutive work days on a regular and irregular basis.
• Repeated and regular getting in and out of front and back seats of different sized vehicles.
• Repeated lifting, leveraging and carrying of up to 50 pounds for both short and longer distances over a variety of walking surfaces.
• Applies and correctly uses PPE when needed and as required.
• Works cooperatively and courteously with a diverse population of co-workers. Clearly and effectively communicate with diverse work group; handle frustration, anger and pressure without internalizing.
• Ability to maintain good employee relations by acting courteously and amicably towards other co-workers.
