Job Summary
The Laser Programmer is a member of the Manufacturing team and is responsible for creating, modifying and nesting metal parts/ components using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and ProNest software in order to assist in the operation of the CNC fiber laser
Responsibilities include
- Ability to perform all the duties of the Laser Operator as needed (see Laser Operator job description) – set up/shut down and operation of CNC fiber laser to produce the highest quality products to meet customer requirements.
- Utilizing SolidWorks to generate flat patterns and AutoCAD to modify the flat pattern with break-lines and other changes as needed
- Using ProNest nesting software to create programs that efficiently use the material
- Determining the amount of material needed for the projects and communicating with the purchasing department
- Scheduling and coordinating the workload of the Laser Operator to meet deadlines
- Issuing material and providing travelers to the operator for each job
- Ensuring inventory is organized, visually and by grade and size, and safely stored
- Safely operating overhead crane, forklift, calipers, grinders, and other hand tools required for the job
- Adhering to all JMS safety procedures and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a minimum of 3 years of laser programing/operation experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to work under pressure, use initiative, and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
- Requires use of basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment – working with close tolerances
- Ability to work safely and efficiently
- Ability to work in a team and independently – strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instruction and written processes
- Knowledge of sheet metal thicknesses and material types
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs – moving product off table throughout the shift
- Experience in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ProNest
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor preferred)
- Reliable attendance and ability to work flexible work hours (standard shift 6:00am – 4:30pm, M-Th. (Friday and Saturday OT as required)
Desired Experience and Skills
- Ability to design/model parts in 2D or 3D and use Inventor software
- Knowledge of sheet metal forming

- High school diploma or GED equivalent
