Job Summary:
The Bench General Manager (Bench GM) supports multiple Jimmy John’s locations by covering General Manager responsibilities in various stores as needed, such as during GM vacations or absences. This position is designed as a developmental role to prepare the candidate for a permanent General Manager role when one becomes available. The Bench GM ensures that all customer service and product quality standards are consistently met, contributing to profitability, operational excellence, and world-class service.
The Bench General Manager is expected to:
- Perform all duties required of Inshoppers and Drivers.
- Manage staff in the locations they are covering, which may include 3 to 50 employees.
- Assign, oversee, and evaluate work, and assist in performance feedback.
- Provide on-the-job training for new employees and support team members with daily tasks.
- Delegate and manage ordering, receipt, storage, and issuing of food, equipment, and supplies to ensure minimal waste and loss.
- Assist in supervising the preparation, sales, and service of food while overseeing daily operations and ensuring smooth shifts.
- Support Inshoppers during rush periods to maintain efficiency and quality service.
- Greet customers, take orders, manage cash registers, and ensure order accuracy and completeness.
- Deliver exceptional customer service consistently.
- Route deliveries and assist drivers to maximize delivery efficiency.
- Complete all food preparation duties, including opening and closing procedures, bread production, and food item slicing.
- Ensure all operational systems and procedures are executed with 100% accuracy and integrity.
- Complete and audit daily and weekly paperwork, including financial reconciliation of cash drawers and bank deposit drops.
- Conduct regular checks of store equipment and supplies, including preventive maintenance.
- Fulfill additional duties as needed to support stores and the market.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Physically capable of bending, reaching, stooping, climbing, standing, and moving throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- At least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, current automobile insurance, and a clean driving record.
- Willingness and stamina to work a minimum of 50-60 hours per week, with flexible availability.
Special Requirements:
- Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as business needs dictate.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and achieve objectives with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills for customer service issues and employee concerns.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain composure under stress and manage high-volume operations effectively.
